Well, it is 12:30 on a Wednesday, but being in my current state of unemployment, I decided I would write a post. I am enjoying having the house to myself this week while my roommate is on vacation. No being quiet for me.
Seeing as I havent blogged in a looonngg time, I figure I should give a general preface to what has been going on with me.
I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at the beginning of September. My boyfriend Jeff got a job here in July. He and I have been dating long distance for three years and decided it was time to try living the same place. I found a girl to live with named Kristy. She is a nice Christian girl. We live in a two bedroom townhouse that she owns. Our house is conveniently and entirely by chance, a mere two minutes from Jeff's. His neighborhood is across the street from mine. It worked out nicely.
As mentioned earlier, I currently have no job and am, of course, in search of one. Over the summer I lived at home in Cincinnati and worked for a local marketing firm doing all of their in-house design work. I worked with six other women and loved them all. While the work I was doing wasnt innovative and award winning, it was work and I liked my work environment. I was sad to leave, but I never really saw myself staying in Ohio long term. Now that all my friends are either in school or moved away, its just not the same. It was hard to picture staying the same place but creating a new life there. So instead its new place and new life.
So far, I like NC. I am figiuring out where things are and how to get places. We live in a less developed area, but I can still get to everything I need in 15 minutes. I think things will develop around us as the city grows. I have been on severeal adventures, usually while going to drop of resumes and beg for work. I have fallen in love with dilworth, the equivelant to lincoln park in Chicago or Hyde Park in Cincinnati. It is a great area, but unfortunatly too expensive for me and too far away from Jeffs work for him. I also discoverd the fourth ward downtown which is very chicago-like. I passed an amazing looking paper store the other day, and a visit there is on the to-do list.
Jeff and I have been spending our weekends in Clemson and Greenville SC. We have season tickets for Clemson football games. We usually drive down there (about 2.5 hours) on friday night, then stay and go to the football game on Saturday. Saturday night is spent in greenville at Jeffs brothers house. It has been fun, but I am excited for my first weekend in charlotte this weekend.
We will also be in town the next weekend which should be an experience. It is race weekend. I live about 10 minutes from the race track. You can hear the race from my house, or so I have been told. It will be a crazy funny weekend with lots of hicks in campers invading the area. I am looking forward to it, even though it will make traffic terrible.
REcently i have been feeling the itch to be artsy and creative. Unfortinatly, I am so bad at actually doing it. I feel this desire to create cool things, but never seem to know what i want to do or where to start. I have no ideas, I just have desire. I lack confidence, and usually get frustrated and give up when I cant get things the way I want. Im hoping this weekend maybe I can do something fun and artistic-like. We will see. I bought some cool papers at hobby lobby? Maybe they will inspire me.
I have always envied fine artists, and their ability to come up with concepts and find inspiration. That is the reason I am in Comemrcial art. I need someone else to give me the idea then I can run with it. Ideas, anyone?
Over the summer I did re-invent my own brand. You can now find me on the web at www.hintofaspark.com. I redsigned teh website as well as my resume and business cards.
Im not totally satisified with the URL I have, but it will work for now. I will keep thinking of new ones, but most my good ideas have been taken.
Alright. This post has gotten rather long.
I am going to try to update more often.
I want to use this as a place to keep up with friends as well as track websites and artists I find who inspire me. Check out Boone Oakley on my list of websites I like. They are a local firm here and their work and their website are amazing.

Hey! It's so good to hear from you! And you're living in Charlotte, NC! We have lots of friends in that area. Have you found a church yet? If you're looking for one, Next Level (Ballantine campus) is a great church. We have a friend whose dad is a teaching pastor at the main campus. Our good friend Will Doggett is the worship leader at the Ballantine campus and his fiance is a graphic designer, so if you guys met, you could totally hook up and have something in common! I'm so glad to hear that things are going well and you can finally live close to Jeff. I know you're loving that!
