Kurt Schwitterz

One of my favorite 20th century artists is Kurt Schwitterz. He was a German dada artist, most well known for his "merz" projects. Merz was a word he invented to use for his works, many of which were collages. He made them out of garbage he found, old newspapers, train tickets, etc. He tells stories about life in that time through the things people have thrown away, and uses interesting compositions and layouts to do so.

Not only did he make incredible collage art work, he also produced a publication called Merz, in which he does some great work with typography.
